The placement of the capacitor bank should be determined according to its type, capacity and specific conditions of the operating environment.
1. Placement of indoor capacitor banks
Separate room
For high-voltage capacitor banks, especially those with large capacity, it is best to place them in a separate room to ensure ventilation and safe operation.
When capacitors with non-flammable media are used and the capacity of the capacitor bank is small, it can also be considered to be placed in the high-voltage distribution room, but the distance from the high-voltage switchgear should be no less than 1.5 meters.
Design of capacitor room
The capacitor room should have good natural ventilation to ensure the normal operating temperature of the capacitor bank.
The door of the capacitor room should open outwards, and high-voltage capacitor rooms with a length of more than 7 meters should have two exits, which should be arranged at both ends.
The distance between the front of the capacitor cabinet and the wall, the distance between the cabinet faces when arranged in double rows, and the clear distance between the capacitor shells must meet certain requirements to ensure the heat dissipation and safe operation of the capacitor bank.
Installation height and spacing
The installation height and spacing of indoor capacitor banks should meet relevant regulations to ensure the safety of operators and the normal operation of capacitor banks. For example, the bottom of the upper capacitor should not be more than 2.5 meters from the ground, and the net distance from the top of the capacitor device to the roof should not be less than 1 meter.
2. Placement of outdoor capacitor banks
Stand installation
Outdoor capacitors should be installed on stands as much as possible, and the bottom of the stand should not be less than 3 meters from the ground.
Ground installation
Capacitor banks using outdoor floor-standing installation should be installed on the concrete floor within the walls of the transformer and distribution station, with the bottom surface not less than 0.4 meters from the ground.
At the same time, the capacitor bank should be installed in a fixed fence not less than 1.7 meters, and measures should be taken to prevent small animals from entering.
3. Other precautions
Environmental requirements
Capacitor banks should be placed in well-ventilated places without strong vibration and corrosive gases.
Avoid placing capacitor banks in places with high temperature, humidity or mechanical damage.
Safety measures
Capacitor banks should be equipped with corresponding protection devices, such as fuses, overcurrent releases, etc., to ensure that the power supply can be cut off in time when the capacitor bank fails.
During the installation, commissioning and maintenance of capacitor banks, necessary anti-electric shock measures should be taken, such as using insulating tools and wearing insulating gloves.
