Precautions for repairing capacitor cabinets

Mar 13, 2025 Leave a message

When dealing with faulty capacitors, the circuit breaker of the capacitor bank and its upper and lower isolation switches should be disconnected first. At this time, although the capacitor bank has discharged on its own through the discharge coil, there will still be some residual charge. For personal safety, manual discharge must be carried out. When discharging, the grounding terminal of the grounding wire should be fixed to the grounding grid first, and the capacitor terminal should be short circuited and discharged multiple times with a grounding rod until there is no spark or discharge sound. Finally, the grounding wire should be fixed. Only the primary components of the device can be accessed. For capacitors with multiple series connections, the connection point of the series connection should be short circuited and discharged to ground before contact. If the capacitor is internally disconnected, the fuse is blown, or the lead contact is poor, there may still be residual charge between its two poles. Therefore, during automatic discharge or manual discharge, its residual charge will not be discharged. Therefore, before the operator or maintenance personnel come into contact with the faulty capacitor, they should also wear insulated gloves and short-circuit the two poles of the faulty capacitor with a short circuit to discharge it.
